Role of Direct Mail in a Campaign Using a Restaurant Menu
Direct mail is an excellent way to reach consumers, especially if you want to make the most of valuable marketing space in magazines and newspapers. You can also use direct mail to build brand awareness and generate leads for your business or organization. Generally speaking, direct mail refers to any written material sent to individuals or households, a practice dating back to the early 1900s when businesses used trade cards. Today’s direct mail consists mostly of flyers and postcards, with the occasional letter or catalog. The main difference between today’s flyers and the trade cards of the past is that instead of being handed out by salespeople, flyers are now more likely to be delivered to mailboxes — a much less personal but still effective way of reaching people.
Modern flyers are a quick and easy way to share information about your business or organization with people who may be interested in what you offer. These materials should clearly convey what your business does, its location, its leadership, and the types of products and services it provides.
The size of a flyer depends on how much information you need to include. Generally, the smaller these materials are, the easier they are to handle and distribute — and they’re also cheaper to produce.
