Definition of Community Management

Community management refers to all the actions, strategies and techniques implemented to build, animate and develop an online community around a brand, company, product or service. The professional in charge of these activities is called “Community manager.”

Community management aims to establish and maintain positive relationships with community members, usually on social media platforms, online forums, blogs, and other digital communication channels. Here are some key elements in the definition of community management:

1. Content creation: The Community Manager is responsible for creating attractive, informative and engaging content for the community. This can include social network posts, blog articles, videos, surveys, etc.
2. Animation and Interaction: Actively engages the community by responding to comments, asking questions, organizing contests, initiating discussions, and encouraging participation.
3. Crisis management: In the event of negative feedback or conflict situations, the Community Manager is responsible for crisis management. They must respond professionally, resolve problems and maintain a positive brand image.
4. Social Watch: It monitors online conversations related to the brand, the industry, and competitors. This enables us to keep abreast of trends and user concerns, and adjust our strategy accordingly.
5. Performance analysis: Community managers use analysis tools to assess community performance in terms of engagement, growth and other metrics. These analyses guide strategic decisions.
6. Internal collaboration: Often collaborates with other company departments such as marketing, communications, customer service and sales to ensure that the community management strategy is aligned with overall objectives.
7. Building an Engaged Community: The ultimate goal is to build an engaged, brand-loyal community that actively participates in discussions, shares content and recommends products or services.
