What makes a good brochure?
A brochure is an advertising medium used to present a company or an activity.
It’s important to know that a good brochure must attract the reader’s attention. This is why having a powerful design and descriptive texts that are both clear and concise is essential to make it easy to read.
First, if the brochure is designed for commercial purposes and highlights a specific product, the text must relate to that product.
Designing a brochure, like any other printed communication material, requires careful work and creative research. Besides the layout, which must meet specific criteria such as using colors related to the company’s logo, the message to be conveyed must have the maximum impact on the reader. Your brochure should be unique and original, especially if it aims to stand out from the competition.
How to Get a Low-Cost Brochure?
The cost or budget for a brochure depends on the following factors:
-
The open and closed format: To explain this point with an example: a client might want a brochure in A5 closed format with a single fold, which would result in an A5 closed brochure and an A4 open format (as if an A4 sheet is folded in half lengthwise).
-
The printing cost depends on the following elements:
- Paper weight: The thicker the paper (e.g., 350g), the more expensive it is. It’s also important to consider that paper quality varies and can influence the final cost.
- Format: Printing on larger formats tends to be more expensive (though this rule doesn’t always apply for non-standard formats with significant material waste).
- Number of colors: Printing in monochrome (black) is much cheaper than printing in four colors or using special colors.
- Finishing: Finishing work increases the total cost … but remember, luxury comes at a price.
- Quantity: In offset printing, the more you print, the lower the unit cost (due to the dilution of fixed costs). For digital offset printing, costs don’t vary with quantity, making it ideal for small print runs.
- Printing method: As mentioned above, offset and digital offset printing differ significantly in terms of budget.
