Our agency took on the task of designing the Akwaba logo and charter.

Once the logo was in place, we designed the graphic charter for the Cards.

This operation was carried out in record time, 48 hours, as they had to appear at conferences and trade fairs in several countries during the week, including Paris, France and the United States.

Designing a graphic charter is an essential step in defining the visual identity of a company, brand or project. The graphic charter establishes consistent guidelines for the use of visual elements, helping to reinforce brand recognition and create a unified image. Here are the key steps in creating a graphic charter:

1. Defining Brand Identity :

• Mission and Values: Understand the brand’s mission and values. The graphic charter must reflect these fundamental elements.
• Target audience: Identify the brand’s target audience. The graphic identity must be attractive to this specific audience.

2. Select Colors :

• Color Palette: Select a color palette that represents the essence of the brand. Determine primary and secondary colors.
• Color Meaning: Associate specific meanings with the colors you choose. For example, blue can symbolize confidence, red energy, etc.

3. Select Fonts :

• Main fonts: Choose fonts for the logo, titles and main text. Make sure they are legible and consistent.
• Typographic hierarchy: Establish a typographic hierarchy to guide the use of different fonts in different media.

4. Logo design :

• Shape and Style: Define the shape and style of the logo. Make sure the logo is versatile and can be used on different media.
• Versions: Create different versions of the logo, including color, black & white and monochrome variants.

5. Defining images and graphics :

• Photography: Specify the style of photography to be used. For example, bright, modern images or black-and-white photos.
• Graphics and Icons: Create guidelines for the use of graphics, icons and other visual elements.

6. Implement Application Rules :

• White space: Determine the use of white space around visual elements to ensure optimum legibility.
• Alignment: Establish rules for aligning visual elements on communication media.

7. Define the use of the brand on media:

• Stationery: Define the design of business cards, letters, envelopes, etc.
• Online media: Indicate how the brand should be represented on websites, social networks, newsletters, etc.

8. Create a Visual Guide :

• Design Manual: Compile all guidelines into a design manual. This document should be easily accessible to the entire design and communications team.

9. Review and Validation :

• Internal validation: Submit the graphic charter to an internal review to ensure that it is consistent with the brand’s objectives.
• External feedback: If possible, get feedback from external people to ensure an objective perspective.

10. Updates and upgrades :

• Scalability: The graphic charter must be flexible enough to evolve over time. Provide mechanisms for updates.
